State Govt extending the Deepam plan

12,052 domestic LP gas connections were allocated to Prakasam district under Deepam scheme.
The state government has decided to extend the scheme to all poor women. Initially the scheme was intended only for the members of women self help groups (SHG). Out of the 1,840 connections will be given in municipal areas and 10,212 in rural areas.

So far the government had provided 44,392 LP gas connections to members of Dwcra groups.
The District Rural Development Authority project director, Mr G.P. Neelakantham, said that mandal-wise quotas were sanctioned, and selections would be conducted soon with the coordination of mandal parishad development officers. He said that they will give priority to tribal and rural areas.
